That's just sad.  I read one of the follow-up stories, and apparently his sister is blaming their dad for leaving the family to run off with a girl her age  (He's 45, she's 21).  That too is sad, but I don't think it's direct cause and effect.  I think the cause of both things is the lack of understanding, something a 13 year old can't have without being taught, and something that if a 45 year old doesn't have by now, probably never will.
